Parent and Me Program

What is my little one learning during class?

Our class routines are highly predictable to support your little one's development. You can expect a well-rounded experience that emphasizes connection and fun.

Free exploration at the beginning of every class

We start every class with free exploration so that your little one (and you!) has the chance to warm up to the space and explore the gym. Each child uses free exploration time differently; some may choose to sit quietly and observe while others dive right in.

We have free exploration at the beginning of class to give parents a few extra minutes to arrive (we know all about snacks, car seats, diaper changes, bathroom breaks, and tantrums) so that we can begin class feeling calm, relaxed, and ready to learn.

What is your little one learning during free exploration?

Free exploration time gives children the opportunity to be the leader in their learning. They get to choose what to try first and what excites them most about how the gym looks today. The equipment in the gym changes often (we like to rearrange the furniture), this time to explore allows your child to become familiar with their surroundings (this reduces the risk of injuries) as well as follow their own interests. Children learn best when they are actively engaged, motivated, and have the freedom to explore and experiment in a playful manner.

Circle time is about adding connection

Circle time helps connect children with their coach, introduces the idea of warming up your body before physical activity, and introduces new skills. We start with gentle activities that engage their senses and lay the foundation for future learning. These sessions focus on basic movements, bonding and nurturing their curiosity! Get ready for some songs!

What is your little one learning during circle time?

We focus on building a positive experience with movement right from the start! The consistency and repetition in circle time supports memory formation, skill mastery, muscle memory, feelings of security, confidence, and trust. Our coaches are using the opportunity to engage with your little one and build trust through singing and eye contact. Songs support language development and singing together helps with social connection and cooperation! Kids around the age of two will start doing parts of circle time independently and our coaches will encourage them to try skills while sitting next to their parent.

Circuit time and activities

If your child is in Jump 1, your coach will provide you with four to five exciting activities, from gentle rolls to playful challenges! It’s time to choose your own adventure and explore the activities at your own place. We use themes in our learning like “Climbing Up & Down, Going Over & Under” to nurture learning and the development of a specific set of movement skills during class.

Kids in our Jump 2 class are introduced to circuits! Circuits are a series of gymnastics stations, in a specific area of the gym, where children move from one area to another, building skills step by step. We encourage children to move at their own pace from station to station as they nurture the development of a specific skill.

What is your little one learning during circuit time and activities?

If your little one is in Jump 1, the goal is to foster a love of movement from an early age. Learning will be child-directed and your little will choose what interests them and lead the way in their learning. As you explore together, we foster a sense of discovery and bonding.

Circuits promote skill progression, boost confidence, and help kids develop a sense of accomplishment as they conquer each station. Circuits will support our learning theme which means that each activity will support the development of a specific movement skill.

A super fun game that ties the learning together

Our non-competitive games are designed for kids to participate fully (no waiting in line!), leave room for creativity, and build skills. Our games are designed to be simple, with a familiar format and few rules. This approach ensures that kids can easily understand the game and focus on having fun.

What is your little one learning when playing a game?

Kids learn best through fun and play! Your little one will be learning social skills, motor skills, planning, listening… the list goes on! Often, this is a child’s favourite part of gymnastics class and they get to be move their bodies creatively while having a ton of fun!

A goodbye circle routine at the end of every class

We make sure to end every class with a goodbye circle! We’ll sing the goodbye song, hand out some high fives, and every little one gets a stamp on their hand (if they want one, of course!).

What is your little one learning during goodbye circle?

The goodbye circle ends class with connection and routine. Kids are introduced to the idea of cooling down their bodies after high energy movement and prepares kids to head out of the gym. Transitions are tough! Gymnastics class is super fun and the goodbye circle routine supports the transition out of the gym so we can put on our shoes and socks to head to your next destination! Our class routines are highly predictable to support your child’s development.
