Our class routines are highly predictable to support your little one's development. You can expect a well-rounded experience that emphasizes skill development and fun.
Get started with a mission
We start every class with free exploration (for kids age 2) or missions (ages 3+) so that your little one (and you!) has the chance to warm up to the space and explore the gym.
Think of missions as the bridge between free exploration in the gym and structured learning. We start each class with missions so that your little one has the chance to explore the space through fun challenges that get them moving and thinking.
Missions and free exploration time are strategically placed at the beginning of each class to give families a few extra minutes to arrive (we know all about snacks, car seats, bathroom breaks, and tantrums) so that we can begin class feeling calm, relaxed, and ready to learn.
What is your child learning during missions and free exploration?
Each child uses free exploration time differently; some may choose to sit quietly and observe while others dive right in.
Missions give children the opportunity to be the leader in their learning. They get to choose a challenge to take on and check out what excites them most about how the gym looks today. The equipment in the gym changes often (we like to rearrange the furniture), this time to explore allows your child to become familiar with their surroundings (this reduces the risk of injuries) as well as follow their own interests.
Missions are like a secret recipe they combine free exploration, listening, learning, and teamwork all into one. Your kiddo warms up their body and mind while having an absolute blast in the gym!
Circle time is about adding connection
Circle time is essential to every class. It provides repetition, consistency, and familiarity for the kids. The predictable routine is crucial for a young child’s sense of security and understanding of class structure. Our coaches build rapport and connection with kids that help them build the relationships they need to develop new skills!
What is your child learning during circle time?
We include activities like counting, naming body parts, and even gymnastics terms! We incorporate music and rhythmic activities to enhance coordination and listening skills. We encourage children to communicate and express themselves by talking about things they enjoy (like pizza toppings!). Circle time is where we introduce gymnastics concepts, discuss safety rules and practice a skill with the whole group that will be included later in class.
Activity circuits and stations
Circuits are a series of gymnastics stations, in a specific area of the gym, where children move from one area to another, building skills step by step. We encourage children to move at their own pace from station to station in these classes. We encourage children to move at their own pace from station to station as they nurture the development of a specific skill.
Older children, around age five, will be working on “stations” in a specific area of the gym until the coach calls “FREEZE! Station Rotation!” Stations are areas or pieces of equipment where children work on specific skills, guided by coaches.
What is your child learning during circuits or stations?
Circuits promote skill progression, boost confidence, and help kids develop a sense of accomplishment as they conquer each station. Circuits support our learning themes and your child will be focusing on a specific skill each class.
Stations allow for focused skill development and individualized learning! Kids receive coaching to enhance their abilities while working in stations and are encouraged to work independently and focus for longer periods of time. Stations support our learning themes and help kids develop a specific skill!
What is on my child’s Individualized Learning Cards (ILC)and when do they practice those skills in class ?
In order to learn to do a hand stand, we must learn other skills and build strength first! A hand stand might be the final goal but the progress towards the goal is the most important part of learning. The lesson plans that our coaches are following have the skills built into the plan - but it may take a keen observer to see where these skills pop up during the class. Watch closely and you might see your little one building their ILC skills during Circle Time or a game! Play and games are the way kids learn! And we love to have fun with them
Learning together through group lessons
Group lessons are all about making class MORE fun for little athletes. We pop our group activity right into the middle of class to increase the fun and engagement, encourage teamwork and interaction between kids, and to reinforce skills!
What is my child learning during a group lesson?
Our group lessons are designed to teach kids to take turns and cooperate, help develop the skills in our lesson, and help kids practice their gymnastics moves in a playful context. As children participate in short group lessons, their attention span and focus improve, allowing them to return to gymnastic exercises with renewed energy. Success in these games also boosts their confidence, instilling a sense of accomplishment. Finally, these group activities strengthen the coach-child bond as they play together, fostering a positive relationship and making children more comfortable with their coaches. It's a holistic learning experience that extends beyond the gym mat.
A super fun game that ties the learning together
Our non-competitive games are designed for kids to participate fully (no waiting in line!), leave room for creativity, and build skills. Our games are designed to be simple, with a familiar format and few rules. This approach ensures that kids can easily understand the game and focus on having fun.
What is your little one learning when playing a game?
Kids learn best through fun and play! Your little one will be learning social skills, motor skills, planning, listening… the list goes on! Often, this is a child’s favourite part of gymnastics class and they get to be move their bodies creatively while having a ton of fun!
A goodbye circle routine at the end of every class
We make sure to end every class with a goodbye circle! We’ll sing the goodbye song, hand out some high fives, and every little one gets a stamp on their hand (if they want one, of course!). Kids ages 6 and 7 may do some gymnastics stretching to help cool down and improve flexibility.
What is your little one learning during goodbye circle?
The goodbye circle ends class with connection and routine. Kids are cooling down their bodies after high energy movement and preparing to head out of the gym. Transitions are tough! Gymnastics class is super fun and the goodbye circle routine supports the transition out of the gym so we can put on our shoes and socks to head to your next destination! Our class routines are highly predictable to support your child’s development.
