How Will Your Kiddo Experience Their First Class?
Some kids blast into the gym like they’ve been there a million times and others take time to warm up. Both experiences are normal, and everything in between is normal too.
Our class routines are highly predictable to support your child’s learning and development. When kiddos are comfortable in the space and with the people, the real magic happens - the skill development!
It typically takes six to eight weeks for a child to become familiar with the space, the routine, their classmates, and their coach. We’re here to support your kiddo through the process.
Do You Imagine Your Child Anxiously Peering Over the Gym Gate? You are Not Alone.
Natalie’s daughter, Georgia, spent many weeks standing on the sidelines, watching from the gate, but seldom venturing into the gym, let alone participating.
The family was working hard on addressing Georgia’s anxieties and Natalie works on staying calm and patient. Natalie found Georgia’s apprehension particular challenging given that she could see her clear interest in the class (She could regurgitate what her coach said and then she “practiced” at home), but she couldn’t seem to bring herself to go in the gym.
Georgia’s coach kept her engaged from the start (even while she peered over the gate), and invited her to try one of the “missions” with his help at EXACTLY the right time.
Georgia beamed with confidence on the way home from class stating that her coach told her FOUR times that she had done good job and was able to relay the instructions he provided. Georgia called her father and brother immediately, followed by her grandparents, to share that the news that she “did gymnastics”.
Needless to say, it was a big deal. Natalie is incredibly grateful for Georgia’s coach’s skill and patience. He has had a much greater impact on little Georgia’s confidence and growth than he likely realizes.
