SLED Program Information for Parents and Educators

  • We wanted to give teens in our community a fun, low-barrier and healthy first employment experience

It helps us share our passion for movement and supporting children to develop the self-confidence and skills they need to thrive in sports.

It exposes the kids our programs to teen role models and mentors.

  • The SLED Program is a minimum 35 hour volunteer program and broken down into a number of different workshops:

    • Two 6 hour workshops (hosted on Saturdays)

    • One 5 hour online learning module to be done at your own pace

    • 20 hours of practical "on-the-floor" work experience

The curriculum supports youth in their understanding of how they can influence others and how to support others in their learning.

  • NO! Students do not need prior sport experience to apply!

That means, you do not have to identify as an athlete in order to participate.

Did you know that many of the strongest coaches in our community don’t actually come from a typical sports background?

  • The SLED Program is FREE for students.

The completion of this program can lead to employment opportunities at Jump Gymnastics that are specifically available for teens that are successful and interested.

  • You can apply for the program at all three of our locations: City Square, North Van, and Richmond.

Practical Experience: When you apply for the program, please choose a location to complete your 20 hours of “on-the-floor” practical gym experience.

In-Person Training Sessions: We will hold a big group session at one of our locations with all of the students.

Employment and all other forms of inclusion are really important to me. I’d like to inspire other employers to hire inclusively - it is the right and best thing to do.
